Baby and Bus are Friends

Stockholm keeps me in amazement to see it friendliness toward baby and young kids living in here. This time, an instance comes from the use of its public transport. Any parent or adult travelling with kids lying on pushchair or baby stroller is exempted from bus charge. This policy was made to ease both passanger and bus operator. Unlike many other developed countries buses that provide the card reader at the front and middle part of the bus, here it can only be found at the front. This policy was made so that parents would not need to leave the kids in a pushchair alone while they swab the card. Furthermore, this might hinder other passanger from long queuing either. On the other hand it keeps the buses get stick to its schedule.
In adition to this kids up to 6 years old are not entitled to any public transport fee. To me, Stockholmer parents seem to be very much enjoying the policy. Another reason why Stockholm become a city of choice for many young parents to live in.
